Roman Watchtower and Imperial Gorks

I've finally finished my Roman Watchtower — well, apart from applying some matt varnish if it ever warms up.  It's made from  5mm foamboard, skewers, balsa, cocktail sticks and sewing pins, painted with a Wilko tester pot of emulsion ('Java Bean', dontcha know), drybrushed and varnished with Ronseal ('Medium Oak' this time).
Celts — I'm watching you

Here's my command squad for my Freebooter Orks, counting as Imperial Guard allies.  I've taken old GW lead models, added bionik bits from Kromlech, 'plasma' guns from some Necrons, a skorch from a Killer Kan, and painted in some banners from the very old Freebooterz book.

(The rest of the Killer Kans have had zzap guns mounted and will be ready to represent Sentinels as soon as I've finished their bases and banners.)
Renegade Oddboyz: Painboy (Veteran with Heavy Flamer), Grot (Master of Ordnance), Zodgrod the Runtherd (Commander with Power Weapon and Plasma Pistol), and three Mek/Painboyz (Veterans with Plasma Guns).

Here's a work-in progress of some of Zodgrod's super-runts (the reason he's a Freebooter — he got kicked out of his tribe for breeding unnaturally fighty gretchin and snotlings).  Firstly his big and angry ones:

And secondly his small, sneaky sniper-y ones:

Saxons and Tomb Robbers

Needing some motivation to finish off all the projects I've started and only half-finished, I thought a blog was in order.  So, here goes...

Anglo Saxon Warriors
First, Anglo Saxons, all armed with pointy spears ready for Saga.  Here's what I think is half a point's worth of Warriors - I say I think, as the rules seem to be out of print at the moment, possibly pending a new version?  Only 12 Levy, 8 Warriors, 4 Hearthguard, a Warlord and a Saxon Church to go.  I'm fairly pleased with the paint job on these, just some tidying up of the bases for the meantime.  Then I'll be ready to poke holes in some Viking raiders!

And second, some models and terrain for Warhammer.  I'd like to refight the Battle of Grimdal's Tomb from an old White Dwarf.  It'll be my Empire troops instead of Bretonnians trying to snatch the Hammer of Wrath from the opposing tomb raiders (whoever's willing!) and the denizens of the tomb itself (need to get some skeletons painted).

The eyes (or lack of them!) really show up on photographs!
